The Italian will lead the ‘Canarinha’ in 2024, but the current coach has chosen not to talk about it

“This is a matter for the president,” Diniz limited himself to commenting

Fernando Diniz, Fluminense coach and presented this Wednesday as the new interim coach of Brazil, he refused to provide any information on the arrival of Italian Carlo Ancelotti to Canarinha in mid-2024.

“I’m not going into the Ancelotti question. This is a matter for the president (of the Brazilian Football Confederation, CBF). I will talk about my style of playDiniz said in the press conference he held when he was introduced as the new head coach of the five-times world champion team.

Although the press conference at the CBF headquarters in Rio de Janeiro was to introduce the new interim coach, the questions about Ancelotti are repeated, as are Diniz’s refusals to answer.

The doubts arise from the fact that, in an interview released on television on Friday, the president of the CBF, Ednaldo Rodrigues, has hinted that the Italian will lead Brazil during the Copa América 2024, scheduled for mid-next year and when his contract with Real Madrid has expired.

Diniz acknowledged that his interim contract is for one year and that it also includes the Copa América, andHe said he has also heard versions that Ancelotti will take charge de la Canarinha in 2024 but cannot confirm them.

“I know Ancelotti’s plans, but I don’t know what they are like. They will have to find another way to confirm this information,” he said.

The Fluminense coach said so he does not know Ancelotti personally and who, in his conversations with the top management of the CBF, guaranteed him that he would full freedom and autonomy to impose your style of play without having to listen to anyone.

“I spoke to the president of the CBF and received an assurance that I will have full freedom to do my job. Talk to others (coaches), I talk. I will have a group within the CBF and people that I will bring with me that I will talk to,” she said.

Diniz, who was an Inter player for the national team in his time he will continue as coach of Fluminensewill assume the position in place of Ramón Menezes, coach of the Sub-20 and who had exercised the function after the resignation of Tite.

address He will make his debut as Canarinha coach next Septemberwhen Brazil take on Bolivia and Peru in South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
