Sophie Thonon-Wesfreid was the Argentine state attorney in the extradition procedure seen by the former Argentine policeman Mario Sandoval. Sentenced in December 2022 to quinze ans de prison for crimes against humanity by a court in Buenos Aires, the avait vécu trente-quatre ans en France après la dictatorship et a été naturalisé français. She is also the lawyer for many French victims of the Argentine (1976-1983) and Chilean (1973-1990) dictatorships. Postérieurement à la conviction, in 1990, in Paris, the captain of the Argentine frigate Alfredo Astiz paid the difference of two French religieuses, elle a notamment sued, à plusieurs reprises mais sans succès, l’extradition de ce dernier.

When did you first understand Mario Sandoval’s speech?

In 2012, justice finally pronounced a non-place.

What do you decouvrez-vous?

In May 2012, Mario Sandoval is further investigated by the Argentine judicial system for torture, aggravated illegal deprivation of liberty, as well as for crimes against humanity against 596 victims, by Hernan Abriata.
