The noble and legendary Miura bulls are the protagonists of an eighth and final running of the bulls of San Fermín | Culture

Not even the legendary and feared Miura bulls, Sanfermin veterans who this year totaled 55 appearances at this fair, are no longer able to cause truly dangerous situations, the very soul of this festival.

In 2 minutes and 22 seconds they covered the long 850-meter course and perfectly fulfilled their role of looking down, not breaking away from the test halters and reaching the finish line as soon as possible.

Finally, the medical part speaks of five transfers to the hospital, a poly-trauma patient with a chest contusion with a reserved prognosis, another poly-contusion, a head trauma, one for a dislocated shoulder and another for a knee contusion. In these Sanfermines there were a total of 34 transfers, only two by bull’s horn. No gorings, clear proof of the Miura’s nobility, despite the number of runners who filled the streets in the last day and the inexperience of many of them, who forget the minimum safety standards and mistakenly position themselves in the most dangerous positions. So it happened every morning and today could not be less: waiters and waiters stationed on the right side of the fence near the entrance tunnel to the arena, through which the bulls dart in their mad rush. Several of them were run over there and one girl suffered a blow to the head from a nail shovel measure who, fortunately, did not notice his presence.

The calving began, as usual, with the initial scare of the rocket, a rapid tour of the animals around the pen and a first halter which takes the head and shows the way to the novices. A measure he stayed by her side and both led the race towards the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. The herd that followed them descended through Mercaderes at breakneck speed, but none of its members, neither bulls nor halters, collided with the planks leading to Estafeta. Seniority is a degree, no doubt.

The long road was in turmoil. The group soon split into two parts; in front, the lighter ox and three bulls who sheltered as best they could from the prevailing shouts; and behind, the three measures remaining, tucked in by the other halters.

More information

The numerous runners caused some of the bulls to lose contact with their siblings, and there were runs and falls at the entrance fence to the arena. There too, in that tunnel, there was a young man biting the dust and one of them injured his arm and was treated in the infirmary in the square.

The clock read 2 minutes 22 seconds when the last measurethe last of this San Fermín 2023, has entered the fences, only eight seconds more than last year.

Rest until this afternoon queenalone (615 kilos), fart (630 kilos), Stationer (635 kilos), almagrenian (590 kilos), Baker (625 kilos) e Famous (575 kilos), which will be fought by the right-handed Rubén Pinar, from Albacete; the French Juan Leal and the Venezuelan Jesús Enrique Colombo, an international cartel.

After this eighth confinement, the dismantling of the fence will begin immediately, the first sign of the end of the San Fermín celebrations, which will be made official this evening at 12 with the traditional Poor me from the Town Hall Square.
